The Post:
We are looking for a passionate, curious and collaborative individual who will be a member of an enthusiastic team and actively contribute to its continued development.

Students
:
Around 500 students currently take A Level courses in Maths, including around 60 taking A Level Further Maths, and around 30 students taking Level 2 courses. We also teach AS Further Maths and Core Maths as extension qualifications.  

Staff
:
The successful applicant will be joining a well-established team of 9 specialist mathematics teachers with a wealth of experience. The team is led by a Head of Department, supported by a Deputy who oversees.

The College offers A Level Maths (Pearson).

Department/Facilities:
The Department has a highly collaborative approach, and continued excellence in teaching and learning is at its core. A staff workroom, located centrally among the suite of seven Maths classrooms, enables the department to discuss their work and exchange ideas readily. Department facilities include data projectors, visualisers and surface laptops in all rooms. All teachers contribute to the central support structure of Maths Clinics which take place daily at lunchtimes.

  • To deal with tutees who have unsatisfactory effort and behaviour.  This will involve liaison with subject staff, and the Tutor Team Leader, as well as parents.
  • To prepare high quality UCAS references for tutees and keep to internal College deadlines set. 
General Responsibilities:
  • To maintain accurate records of class attendance using the College registration system and to follow up student absence.
  • To communicate with the parents of students and prospective students, including attendance at Consultation Evenings, Parent Tutor Evenings and Open Evenings.
  • To interview prospective students.
  • To contribute to the College's Extension/Complementary Studies programme by teaching on existing courses and developing new courses in line with College policy.
  • To attend and contribute to meetings as identified on the College calendar.
  • To provide cover within the Department for staff who may be absent on a short term or occasional basis. 
To contribute to the overall management of the College and adhere to its policies and procedures:
  • To act at all times in accordance with the College’s Safeguarding Policy.
  • To participate in the College’s Professional Review scheme.

We are looking for a lively, committed and flexible teacher of Business who will be a member of an enthusiastic team and actively contribute to its continued development. The successful candidate should have the ability and experience to teach on the A Level Business and BTEC Business National Extended Certificate course. 

If you are an Early Career Teacher (ECT), would have a reduced timetable, participate in the College’s dedicated ECT programme and have support from your mentor.

Trainees will be given a fixed term contract over the training period, which is two years, and will divide their time between teaching and learning support duties.
